It is possibly the overlap of the DECaLS, MzLS, and the BASS footprints. I am not sure if this is actually gravitational lensing.

Yep, exactly, if you look at DR9-south or DR10-south (grz), you’ll get similar images to DR7. In the DR9 layer we switch from DECam to MzLS+BASS at Dec = 32.375 degrees.
