Strange lookin star

Who knows what I am looking at here, could be a star or just a mistake in imaging, but it looks odd to say the least.

I think that’s a fast-moving star - it has a pretty large proper motion in Gaia, and in our “individual exposures” panel you can basically see it moving year on year! The image processing has definitely done a number on it too!

Warp Speed!

I think I’ve seen some posts with similar objects that look like traffic lights :vertical_traffic_light:

This link has blessed me with many High Proper Motion Stars. This one isn’t as noticeable in Legacy DR10 and earlier, but in DR11, it really stands out. Apparently, it has about 10 times the parallax of the first one, but that might be an error.

I do seem to be encountering them a lot lately. it makes me wonder though if the opposite can be true; are there stars that do not move?
