Best scientists, astronomers and galaxy enthusiasts. First a happy new year to all of you and, I am looking forward to all interesting posts and, looking forward to be amazed by any one of your posts.
I just was wondering… Can we expect James Webb pictures on this platform in the future? The quality now is amazing. But the quality of the JWT is stunning I recon. I cross my fingers for maybe we can look in to those images.
Nevertheless still learn of you scientists and astronomers. Both pro’s and hobby ones. if I knew all this 30 years ago. Think that I wouldn’t be an electrician and mechanical engineer.
Again wishing all people on this wonderful platform, a happy new year of space exploring with hopefully amazing new finds for the year 2023.
Thanks and regard’s to all,
Matthijs

I don’t have any plans to add JWST images. JWST has such a tiny field of view – just arcminutes on a side – that it covers only a miniscule fraction of the sky. To me it feels like an all-sky mapping app just isn’t the right platform to explore those images. And they’re usually best understood alongside HST images, which also cover just a tiny tiny fraction of the sky. (Also it’s a lot of work! And, the variety of filters used is so wide that I wouldn’t want to figure out a color-mapping scheme, so I would only use press-release images anyway.)
