I think it is perhaps an edge-on lenticular galaxy? A polar ring is oriented orthogonal (or close to it) to the main disk of a galaxy, if I understand the definition correctly.

Yes, that’s what a polar ring galaxy is usually defined as. This is an unusual galaxy, perhaps a lenticular (as mentioned).
