Interesting object? Weird green object

This green object is so called a cosmic ray, which is a charged particle of energy that hit the detector while an image is taken, These objects are usually masked out from by brocessing software which then removes it or photoshops it.

Agreed that it looks like an artifact, but it isn’t just a single linear track, so I am not sure what it is. Clearly our cosmic ray rejection did not correctly remove it, because we modeled it as being a really green source (see models below). This sort of false detection is usually cut out by requiring stars be detected in multiple bands in order to be used for later analysis in astronomy, but embarrassing nonetheless. https://decaps.legacysurvey.org//viewer/?ra=117.7622&dec=-38.2293&layer=decaps2-model&zoom=16
