Imagine living deep inside a large elliptical galaxy

This is near the galactic plane. I imagine this could be the darkest part of the sky for an observer deep inside an elliptical galaxy, maybe not that deep. And just imagine the best, or rather darkest view outside is one area of the sky like this. All you could infer about the universe would be so limited by this perspective. Makes me glad we live in a spiral galaxy and not too close to the center bulge. But it makes me wonder what kind of models of the universe would they have come up with. Imagine an Einstein on such a world, just solving his equations and asking his astronomer friends if the universe was static! And of course there would be no Edwin Hubble equivalent since it seems it would be very hard to find any external galaxy for a very long time. And there would little reason to build such space telescopes to see so far away for a long time. And they wouldn’t know to design them for looking at redshifted galaxies. Makes one wonder how long it would take them to get the right picture of the universe!
