It could be. It’s hard to say for sure from the image alone; for example, one (or both) could be elliptical galaxies. However, given how bright they are, I’d go for two red stars (unless there was a failure of the g and r filters at this particular part of the sky … unlikely, but stranger things have happened). Red ellipticals are usually much smaller, because they are so much further away …

Yeah, if you look at the individual exposures (click on the map, follow the “Single Exposures” link),

if you look at some of the r-band images taken in particularly clear conditions, you can see it resolved into two objects – probably stars.
