How do I process the image and remove artefacts? I use Pixlr!

Don’t worry I am not advertising but I just want to show my trick to get rid of them by going to Photo Editor : Pixlr E - free image editing tool, click the Heal button and click on the artifacts to magically get rid of them! I processed a brick in the Praesepe star cluster and the results are going to blow your mind!

Yep, SDSS did something similar with their images – some linear predictive coding thing to interpolate over bleed trails. Of course, like all these things, the actual values in the filled-in regions are all made up. Here’s an SDSS example where you can see a galaxy sliced by the bleed trail and then wonkily interpolated-over.

I see a lot of background sources faded or even removed completely, and non-existing sources added

Overall the background becomes more grainy?

Things I wouldn’t consider improvements
