Questions

Hello,

While reviewing image stacks around coordinates RA = 275.0164, Dec = 61.5167, I noticed a distinct behavior in the z-band mosaic exposures (lines 9 to 12).

While the optical bands (g, r) show a standard profile, the infrared z-band exposures reveal two very close sources or a tight double-point configuration.

Could this be a genuine close binary system (or a cool companion resolved only in z), or is this an artifact related to the mosaic processing/stacking for this specific brick?

Any insights or checks would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help!

Hi,

It definitely looks like two objects in the z - and there’s not really anything in the image processing that can produce that as an artifact.

Whether they are close in 3-d space or not is very difficult to say.

Best wishes,
