Quasar?

This object appears to have uncharacteristically large red beams emanating from either side. Could be some sort of distortion but thought it was worth checking.

Looks like some sort of bizarre diffraction spike bork. @dstn what on earth has happened here?

Satellite trail perhaps?

Yes, that’s my guess. You can see it continue southward, and then there is a gap (the gap between the CCDs in DECam) and then it continues… so it was only observed in one exposure, so moving object. Satellite trails and other things are harder to mask in these busy, busy images!
