Oh, the lens is the red line under.
Is it gas reflecting the galaxies light?

It is a magnified image of a galaxy that is a very long way behind the bright foreground galaxy, caused by the bending of light by the gravity of the foreground galaxy, which acts like a giant lens in space. The effect is called “gravitational lensing”. Again Wikipedia is a good source of information about it.
