For some reason, the Legacy Survey DR10 Images turn it and the shelled galaxy next to it turquoise. I think they look beautiful.

In the northern survey where dec = 32.375 degrees, there is the northern survey where DECam can’t reach. They are the MzLS and BASS Surveys. MzLS is much deeper than the SDSS z band causing an issue related to estimating the background around galaxies.
Is that why different parts of the sky are different colors?
They use two different telescopes for observing because there is not a z-band for the Bok telescope. Sadly the telescope was disassembled and replaced. The BASS project was complete and there will no longer be any data from the northern sky surveys, More information: The Mayall z-band Legacy Survey (MzLS) | Legacy Survey
