Looks like an AGN: maybe in an interaction, see the lower left of it, see a misplacement of stars:

Not sure there’s any AGN here. Could very much be an interaction but also a merger - it looks a little too big comparatively to that elliptical.

the dwarf elliptical directly below the southern arm, perhaps

Yes, my thoughts exactly although it just looks a little too far/small to be causing such effects on the top galaxy. Would be interesting to know the finer details of these 2 galaxies to know for sure though.
