Lensing?

Is this an example of lensing or is it a galactic arm? Just wondering!

Hi,

That’s almost certainly debris from a galaxy collision where the small one got torn apart. Around a single galaxy, the lensing arc is more like an arcsecond or two in radius. In galaxy clusters you can get long thin highly distorted images, but for single galaxies it will be a close-in, near-circle or arc.

You can check out https://arxiv.org/pdf/1906.00970 for examples of strong lenses found in these images.
