Is this what we are looking for when an asteroid is in the frame?

That’s more likely a long satellite track – if you click on the map, go to “Single exposures”, and click [decam r 624872 S18] to see the single exposure containing that streak, you’ll see it’s a long track – much longer that you’d get from an asteroid.

The Legacy Surveys-DR9 images have special processing that suppresses asteroids. Have a look at the old DR5 layer if you want to asteroid hunt.
