Despite its unremarkable appearance, NGC 1377 is luminous in the FIR. In addition to its other features derived from IR observations, NGC 1377 harbors a (thus far) unique, highly collimated molecular jet from its nucleus (S. Aalto+ 2020, A&A, 640, A104).
It is also an extremely radio quiet galaxy relative to its FIR luminosity (see
pioneering discussion by H. Roussel+ ApJ, 593,733 & Costagliola 2016 A&A, 594, A114).
