Interesting object~ what is a transient event?

I think this is galaxy NGC 4214 but… I so happen to click exactly on a “Transient Event”.

Hi,

A transient event would be something that appeared in the sky and then (probably) disappeared. In this case, it looks like SPIRITS16ea is a supernova (exploding star) found by the SPIRITS project (SPIRITS: SPitzer InfraRed Intensive Transients Survey - NASA/ADS) using the Spitzer Space Telescope.
