Interesting object faint, extensive, (though localised) scarlet glow that isn't discernible on DR9

Looks like an issue with a couple of z-band exposures. Artifact is my guess.

spotted a smalller, fainter version of it due south…doesn’t look like a technical glitch

Indiviual exposures have a couple exposures with a lot of cloudy stuff on it but its only in a fraction of them (all from certain exposures in a small period in 2013) so I am guessing there was some tech error that caused it then

Ahh thank you. That explains the weird single exposures.

Since the exposure is away from the star, It could just be a poorly processed single exposure.

There’s a couple of them (different) from around the same time though (3 if I remember). Maybe the star was having a busy period (technical term).
