Dancing in the dark

Does anyone know what the blue sheen in the top is?

The blue colour is made by hydrogen atoms in space, when theUV light from a AGN / quasar shines on them. Not a healthy place to live.

The quasar/AGN is active because it has just had a close encounter with another galaxy, and stars are falling into its black hole, and that is making UV light.
