Binary Things?

Not totally sure if these are regular (albeit extremely bright/large) stars or something else. It looks like there’s some kind of ejection from the orange object too.

Welcome :slight_smile: The upper one turns out to be a Carbon star called CW Leo:

The image you’re showing here is from the WISE infrared satellite. If you look at the optical imaging from LS-DR10, you’ll see the dust cloud surrounding it.

Oh, neat, the bottom one is also a weird kind of star called a Mira variable!

I found this out by turning on the “Bright stars” overlay (under “Bright objects”) and clicking on its tag.
