Yes. it is. Thats the Abell 70 nebula.

I like the galaxy in front, it looks like a spaceship going by, caught in the shot.

is there a galaxy under and behind it too?

Thats the model being awful at distinguishing nebulae.

I don’t exactly know what that means lol, is it like the clumpy galaxy area problem? I don’t know if it matters but it is in the residuals too but blue

i don’t know why it is not in the star clusters and planetary nebulae catalog for some reason. I seen many of these that are not in the catalog so it definitely needs an update.

The data reduction approach is to try to fit simple elliptical models to galaxies. We adjust the shapes and colors of the models until they best match the observed images. The residuals are then image minus model. The models are simple enough that they don’t work in enough detail to work for large galaxies or spirals, but the galaxies we’re really interested in for study with DESI are tiny distant galaxies where the simple models are fine.
